Maui,
the “Valley Isle”, is the second largest island
in the Hawaiian Island chain. The island’s name
derives from the Hawaiian demi-god Maui, who raised all
of the Hawaiian Islands from the sea with Manaiakalani,
his magic hook.
Maui has a beauty all its own. The island boasts a 10,023
foot volcano named Haleakala, or “House of the Sun”,
the largest dormant volcanic crater in the world. From
its summit you can see majestic vistas as the land slopes
down to the Pacific, and a spectacular sunrise that is
second to none. Every winter the waters off of Maui are
visited by 50% of the world’s humpback whale population,
where they come to our warm, tropical waters to mate and
bear offspring.
Set amidst sweeping landscapes, Maui’s main industries
are agriculture and tourism. Once you touch down on the
rich soil of this island you too will believe the island’s
motto: Maui No Ka Oi, Maui is the best. |
